According to Article 39 of the Friendship Treaty between Brazil and Portugal, signed in 2001, medical doctors graduated in public Brazilian universities may exercise their profession in Portugal.
The first step is the recognition of the diploma in Portugal. For that purpose, it is not necessary to carry out tests if the professional’s college has agreements with Portuguese universities. Get informed with us on the list of necessary documents.
The second step is enrolling the medical doctor at the Association of Medical Doctors (“Ordem dos Médicos”) of Portugal, in which Brazilian practitioners also have special treatment, according to the legislation.
Lastly, there are enterprises specialized in the insertion of medical doctors in the Portuguese labor market, which can place the candidates in several cities of Portugal.
