Decree-Law 47344/66, known as the Portuguese Civil Code, establishes in its articles 2024 and subsequent ones, the rights related to estates. Even if there were heirs residing outside Portugal, the procedure for processes related to assets is quite agile. Depending on the case, it is not even necessary to submit the process by judicial means.
The administrative process procedure, contrary to the judicial one, makes the succession process more straightforward and less onerous. For that purpose it is necessary to prove the ancestors’ property of the assets by means of certificates. Get informed with us on the necessary documentation.
With the end of the inventory and the transference of the assets’ property, the customer will become the owner of real estate units in Portugal, and will also be able to maintain a permanent residence visa, or even apply for Portuguese Nationality in the future, according to the provisions of Law 37/81.
